Charlie's Angels (2019). Prime Video. 3/10

Upon renting and beginning to watch this movie I took into account the infamous reputation remakes had for being an atrocious clutter of obnoxious jokes and worthless political statements. I can wholeheartedly say that the once being presented with the end credits of this picture, I was not only surprised but hurt at how accurate these sorts of stigmas were with this picture. This was not only an acting abomination with clear-cut halfassed directing and writing. But as well as a weak excuse for a message to empower women all around. This film felt like a studio excuse to show how pro-women they are. The film felt two dimensional with characters that frankly I found myself either finding extremely annoying or not caring for at all. The couple of good things I could say about this film are few but for one I really enjoyed the acting of Naomi Scott. Scott is one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood with her notable roles in Aladdin and The 33. Her acting along with Sir Patrick Stewart I can safely say saved this film in its entirety. The action sequences were also a quintessential part of this film's saving, although some scenes I found utterly uninteresting, such as the final boss scene, there were definitely some honorably worth mentioning. Apart from these series of observations, I understand the intent of director and writer Elizabeth Banks, what most likely went through her planning for this film was to create a picture that solidified the strength of women in motion pictures. I just think there would have been various different ways to go about it. Ways that would have gotten across its message while appealing to masses making it a commercial and critical success. This film greatly disappointed me and brought shame to a once highly regarded series. It's a miracle in of itself that the film was even able to make back the money spent. I would not recommend this film to anyone.
