Miracle In Cell 7. Netflix. 6/10

Miracle In Cell 7 is a Turkish remake of the classic 2013 Korean film of the same title. Miracle In Cell 7, follows the love story between a mentally-ill father who was wrongfully accused of murder and his six-year-old daughter. After having had this movie recommended various times for a review my expectations for it was elevated beyond normal. I decided to withhold myself from reading critiques about it before and go in with a pair of unadulterated eyes to be able to take in the film raw. I think this film is nice, it is clear throughout the whole film that this movie would be nothing but a tear-jerker throughout the whole runtime. I really enjoyed the level of emotion portrayed by the actors and the warmth as well as the love that this film brought. I found the directing of this picture to be good, I did not find anything extraordinary to praise the director on except for the fact that he was able to portray the storyline clearly and efficiently. This film has an abundance of lovable characters which are easily successfully portrayed due to the graces of the talented actors. However, I did find myself feeling uneasy towards the end of the movie. I found that despite the film having the tear factor, there were no deep character connections. This movie lacked depth, ideals, even emotion at times. This film felt impersonal and purely fabricated to grab the heart of anybody with a soft spot for cute little girls and their endless love for their fathers. If we look at this movie from a critical standpoint, it was average, there was no lesson learned. In the end, none of the essential dilemmas of the plot are really solved except for the most obvious one which I think any person with a peanut for a brain might be able to guess. The cinematography in this film was weak, it heavily relied on stills of beautiful Turkish landscapes and without that, it would've been a complete catastrophe. I think one of the biggest problems I have with this movie, is the fact that there is no justifiable villain motif. Nobody usually roots for the villain, but a successful film villain is one that can let you see it from their point of view and agree for a split second on their actions. In my opinion, sure this movie is "cute" and it'll make your mother cry for the right reasons but besides that, there's nothing there to get out of. This movie is essentially just a mediocre movie with clear cheap shots to the heart.
